ok, i'm not so great at the 20 questions thing. but maybe i can ramble my way out of having to write a list of my hobbies and crap. i've moved around most of my life now i live in brooklyn. my dad was constantly trying to climb the corporate ladder and consequently i moved from city to city. i was born some where around philadelphia, although i can't remember philly. when i was two i moved to beautiful beaumont, texas, which isn't at all beautiful but for a kid it's got lots of lizards and turtles. then as luck would have it we moved to toledo, ohio. for a short two year stay in a small town called sylvania. i met my first friend there, adam bash. after my short stay we moved to boring as hell, poland, ohio. for a long stay of almost seven years. this place was the most boring place i've ever lived. i'm sure it's a combinations of puberty and ohio football culture that fuels my lingering resentment, i love my friends from there but hate the place. anyway that went on a long ass time and then when i was sixteen i moved to naperville, illinois and my life changed. naperville is this crazy suburban sprawl that certainly give los angeles a run for it's money. but while i was there i graduated high school and played in this silly band called maroon. i met a guy named billy gruber, the lead guitarist in maroon, he still plays a lot of music, if he ever gets some music on the web i'll link him. also played with a great guy named joe sell who's the guitarist in lucky boys confusion. i can't forget to mention josh heindenrich who plays in the chicago based the fancy lads. i'm sure there's people i'm leaving out here, i'm sorry, just write me i'll put you in. after high school i spent time in burlington, vermont with a great friend charles butler, who now lives in nashville playing the banjo in a great group called nashville fusion ensemble. eventually i became tired of living in his basement and moved back to chicago where i lived with bill gruber and joe sacco. it was great fun when we weren't fighting. bill, joe, and i played a cool coffee shop called the no exit cafe in n.chicago, we just got a weekly when we split. joe went to cali while i went to work in a steel mill in nj. bill stayed in chicago attending columbia. i hated nj with a passion, i worked in a steel mill for 60 hours a weeks, hating every moment. after the summer was over i started attending brookdale communtiy college. i was so bored and lonely at this point i actually became involved with student activities, and then president of the student council, and then at a strange conference in syracuse i met the love of my life abby kelly. soon after that i enrolled at suny purchase music school and moved to white plains. at purchase i was studing studio production and played in band called organum. with a huge cast of silly characters, too many to mention here. i produced a bunch af artists and bands and generally had a good time. i have a bunch of great roommate/apartment stories from that time, i'll post them later. eventually a graduated and moved to bedstuy. a year after that i moved to ft. greene where i reside to this day. |
